Here’s the Thing…
Don’t worry, don’t worry. I haven’t canceled my Ipsy bag. In fact, I will not be canceling my Ipsy bag in any foreseeable future. How else will I be able to stay up to date with all the latest beauty trends?!
On a serious note, I have been putting a lot of thought into the type of content I am creating for my blog & I came to the realization that makeup reviews do not fit into the brand I am trying to create. Don’t get me wrong, I loved sharing & writing about the fun new products I received each month. However, when it came time to hit publish, the Ipsy posts seemed to be so unaligned with the other posts on my blog.
While I will still receive my Ipsy bag & still very much enjoy trying out new products, I want to hone into more lifestyle + entrepreneurial pursuits & travel posts because those topics go more hand-in-hand with the message I am trying to promote.
Makeup, on the other hand, does NOT fit in with the overall theme of my blog & brand. And that is okay! It is not possible to produce quality content on every topic under the sun.
I have always wanted to focus more on quality vs. quantity in terms of the number of posts I create, but I am realizing that I also need to have standards in the type of posts I create. With the being said, I feel like I have the most authority / experience to write about my journey into the freelance world, blogging, entrepreneurship & travel guides + adventures.
(P.S. while travel may seem like the odd one out here, a big reason why I embarked on this journey in the first place was to travel more, so I saw it fitting to include the travels I am able to have thanks to this new life I have built for myself.)
So That’s the Thing…
This whole blogging thing is such a winding road. I’m pretty sure I thought I would just post about whatever I want, click publish & be on my merry way. But there is SO much to consider, especially if you don’t just want your blog to be a brain dump, but rather a resource for others to learn from and follow along with your journey.
In a way, the blogging process is all about pruning the good in pursuit of the great.
I’m blown away by how much I am learning every day about the blogging world & I know things around here are constantly changing + evolving + developing. It means the world to me that you are sticking around for this journey & supporting me along every step of the way.
